A call to aspiring and emerging vocalists and instrumentalists to participate in The Ground Beneath Us Festival improvisation concert series Waves – Transcendental Improvisations at BEMAC on Sunday 28 May 2023.

 

ABOUT WAVES

 

Waves is a rare concert experience featuring master improvisers from diverse cultures and traditions exploring improvised sound-making through traditional and contemporary forms. The program will morph between solos, duos and larger group improvisations culminating in a transcendental cascade of sound that defies categorisation.

 

The concert will showcase the amazing sound artistry of Shenzo Gregorio (violin, guitar, bass), Chiho Kagawa (Armonica), Sandra Real (Latin Harp), Lachlan Hawkins (hand pan, drums), Hannah Macklin (voice) and Anthony Garcia (guitars).

 

WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES?

  • Perform in the Waves Concert
  • Collaborate and improvise with professional artists
  • Receive a fee of $300 to participate

 

SELECTION CRITERIA: WHO CAN APPLY?

  • Emerging artists of all ages who have a strong interest, knowledge and experience with musical improvisation (including singers, rap artists and instrumentalists)
  • All genres welcome
