ABout Takako Haggarty Nishibori
Queensland’s eminent Koto performer, Takako Haggarty Nishibori, brings the classic sounds of Japan alive through her mastery of the Koto. Takako was born in Oita, Shiga Japan, and started playing the koto at age four under Takako Nishida. She trained with Grand Master Shizu Fujino at Ikuta Ryu Miyagi school, commencing studies in 1984. Following her Masters in Educational Studies, Takako moved to Newcastle as a language teacher, where schools continue to embrace her koto expertise.
