Sounds Across Oceans acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which our events stand on, the Turrbal and Jagera peoples of Meanjin, and recognise their continuing connection to the land and waterways.

Experience Maal (One Spirit): Connection Through the Senses, a unique and magical interactive workshop series that invites kids and families to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of Asia and Indigenous Australia through the arts! As part of BrisAsia Festival 2025, these interactive sessions bring together the extraordinary talents of gifted artists Indian fusion singer Menaka, Japanese Koto master Takako Haggarty, and Indigenous artist and musician Glenn Barry.
Together they will inspire a connection through the senses, guiding young minds to new sounds, stories and movements, sparking imagination and joy. Each workshop is designed to foster cultural sharing and understanding, creating a welcoming space for intercultural dialogue and interactive learning.
Maal (One Spirit): Connection Through the Senses is designed for children and families of all abilities, including those who are neurodiverse and/or have unique needs, ensuring everyone can experience cultural immersion in a fun, inclusive environment. Get ready for a day filled with music, laughter and discovery as you journey through vibrant cultural traditions, learn new ways to experience the world, and create lasting memories together.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate unity, understanding, and joy at Maal (One Spirit)!
